Who wouldn’t want more energy during the day to cross things off their to-do list and still have the energy to do the things they enjoy.
The challenge is you easily get sidetracked, find it hard to concentrate on getting things done, and by the afternoon all you want to do is put your head on your desk for a nap. Zzzzzzzz
You’re not alone. Having more energy is key to kicking butt at work and enjoying things after. Hello, yoga class, playing with your kids, you name it.

5 Ways to Have More Energy Throughout the Day
1 Move Your Body
Moving your body (aka exercise) is a great way to have more energy but not only that it:
- boosts your mood, from the release of endorphins making you feel positive & happy.
- helps you have more mental focus, or as I like to say ‘get more done in less time.’
- helps you sleep better.
- gives you more stamina, you know so you can walk up that flight of stairs without being winded.
Start the day with a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout. I love these because they are so effective and quick, 20 to 40 minutes, and you’re done. You also don’t need to leave the house to do these; there are lots of free videos online.
Instead of sitting on your butt all day at your desk, periodically get up from your chair and move, stretch, shake your body out, do a few squats. Your 2-5 minute break with get your creative juices flowing again and give you a boost of energy.
My Recommendation For You
2 EAT
Eating regularly throughout the day gives your body what it needs to keep your energy up. I know it can be hard when you’re in the zone or really don’t want to be bothered to figure out what to eat.
The result of waiting too long to fuel your body – you end up craving high fat, high carb foods. Hello, potato chips, pizza, chocolate, pastries, anything to fill the void of your empty stomach and quiet the craving.
Take a bit of time on the weekend to prepare some meals and schedule time in your day to stop and eat. Because YOU are important too.
3 Music
Music creates a mood. It can make you feel sad, happy or energetic.
Find or create a playlist that gives you positive energy while you work. My favorite is no lyric jazz. Don’t get me wrong I love it when people are singing, but I find it hard to concentrate on writing when I want to sing along.
I switch it up when I take a break and put on my favorite dance mix. Moving my body AND getting positive energy….bonus.
4 Ditch the Sugar
Bet you didn’t expect to see this one.
Well having high amounts of sugar during the day can and does make you tired.
Not only do you get the energy crash after a sugary treat, eating sugar all the time messes with your body so you can:
- Have trouble sleeping
- Get bloated
- Gain weight
- Have constant annoying cravings
- Have brain fog so you can’t concentrate
Boost your energy AND health by ditching the sugar. And no that doesn’t mean you can’t have a piece of birthday cake, it just means you’re not eating it every day. Phew, disaster averted
5 Be Thankful
I’m sure you’ve heard of the law of attraction. Like attracts like, your thoughts create your reality.
When you’re in the lower emotions fear, grief, unworthy, you feel heavy and generally have low energy.
Being up in the higher emotions like enthusiasm, happiness, optimism, you feel light, and generally, your physical and emotional energy raises.
A great way to raise your emotional energy is Gratitude.
You can start a gratitude journal or just do a mantra of thankful thoughts while you’re in the shower.
Some of my favorites are:
- I am so grateful and thankful for this beautiful day.
- I am so grateful and thankful to have such amazing clients.
- I am so grateful and thankful that I am so healthy.
- I am so grateful and thankful for all the love in my life.
Being grateful opens you up to new possibilities, raises your emotional energy and in turn, raises your physical energy.
