We’ve all heard the term ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’, but why is that, really?
Well, eating breakfast:
- Helps keep your blood sugar steadier throughout the day. What that really means is you’ll be happier (because you won’t be irritable or grumpy from being hungry).Helps you have more energy and give your brain the fuel it needs to work. Hello, let’s get more done in less time.
- It helps you kick start your metabolism for the day and maintain your weight. Yup, I did say help maintain your weight. Pretty cool huh.
- Breakfast is just that. Breaking your Fast from the time you finished your dinner (or light snack after dinner) to when you eat in the morning. Trying to make it to lunch without eating is NOT a way to lose weight, it will actually have the opposite effect in the long run (unless of course you're intermittent fasting which is a whole other conversation).
Personally, I eat a huge breakfast, more like dinner size, because I reverse the size of my meals. Large breakfast, medium lunch, smaller dinner. My body works better this way, probably because I’m a morning person.
It all depends on how you as a unique individual works best.
So what should you eat for breakfast?
Protein, healthy fats and carbs. Don’t forget that fruits & veggies are carbs, so I don’t necessarily mean bread.
Example: Protein (eggs, Greek yogurt), Healthy fats (nuts, seeds, avocado), Carbs (swiss chard, tomato, sprouted toast or wrap, blueberries).Want some actual recipes? Look below for
